Irish Association of Holistic Medicine

The Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN PSYCHOTHERAPY

The course provides an exciting and supportive learning environment with active participation in practical exercise and project work as well as theoretical background.

1.           Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy (year 1)

This course is not a qualification for practice as a psychotherapist but imparts knowledge of counselling skills and stress management techniques as well as preparing for the second year.  On its own the Certificate is a valuable adjunct to other therapies or careers and allows the person to run stress management courses.

2.           Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (year 2)

To proceed to Year 2 students must have successfully completed all of Year 1 requirements.  Entry to the second year is by means of interview and assessment of suitability by the course director/tutors.

The two-year Diploma qualifies one to see clients in practice and to undergo ongoing professional supervision leading to Accredited Psychotherapist status.

3.           Accredited Psychotherapist

Graduates of the two-year Irish Association of  Holistic Medicine Diploma Course who have also completed 450 hours of supervised work with clients can apply to be registered as an Accredited Psychotherapist with the Irish Association of Holistic Psychotherapy. Accredited members may obtain full professional insurance through the Association, working to the Association code of ethics and practice, and participate in the Association continuing education and supervision programme.
